Default 2.25" or 2.5" catback exhaust?

Hey All,

I couldn't find too much about the pros and cons of 2.25" and 2.5" catback exhaust systems. From what I gather, 2.25" is generally good for people w/o a turbo....but what if I plan on putting a turbo on in the future? I only have a CAI on there but do plan on getting MS soon. Will the 2.5" exhaust mess anything up with the only mod being the intake? I really won't have the money for a turbo for like a year so I would be driving around with the exhaust for quite some time . If having the 2.5" on there would mess things up, I would probably get the 2.25" and then rebuy exhaust but if I don't have to do that I would rather not.

I found some good prices on the magnaflow (what I really want) on ebay. Tell me what you guys think about this auction...

Thanks for any input!!

same here. in most cases (especially with our cars), if you go TOO big on exhaust pipe diameter, you'll actually hurt your performance more than you'll help it.

Ok, I'll go for the 2.25". Did you check out that auction? What do you think of that?

Stock is 2.25. If you want that leave it stock.

And I should note, I have that exhaust on my car. Only thing I don't like about is that the tips seem to stick out a little too far, but I believe you can have them put different tips on it which would probably make it look better. I have the 2.5" piping. Like I said, stock is 2.25, so if you want 2.25 you might as well leave it stock and just put a new muffler on it. And 2.5" does not kill your backpressure. If anything it helped my top end. You still have a 2.25" bottleneck before it goes to 2.5.

Well, now I think I will get the 2.5". Considering it's only around $400 on ebay I think I can go with the magnaflow.

Go with the 2.5" piping. If you do suffer with performance, you can just put on a resonator tip that will help build a slight bit of back pressure (specially if it is longer)

Couldn't agree more. 2.5" will not hurt you at all.

I noticed that I have the choice of aluminized steel or stainless steel....the difference is a little over $100....is it worth the difference in price? I live in Las Vegas so it's not like it rains a lot here.
