hey it's a weather-related problem though now c'mon

 

it was -15 to -20 with windchill here the past 3 days in upstate ny.... and all winter we had unseasonably warm.. upwards in the 50-60 range until just after the new year, and then snow and now this ...which is the coldest it's been in 2 years!!!

but the spring is coming... the groundhog didn't see his shadow..so that means spring is coming!!!

I thought my ticking on my neon was the lifters as well....yes the fuel injectors tick but....when you give the motor a rev (at least mine) my ticking will go away periodically....then come back about 30 seconds later...if it were indeed the fuel injectors the ticking would just go faster and faster or it wouldnt stop...i believe at idle after a rev the tick goes away because it pumps the lifters up...but im not no ase certified mechanic...im just guessing...

 

is there any way you could record the tick??

 

I can try, but I dont know. I do still have 30000 mi and 3 yrs on my powertrain, should i take it to the dealer and have them tell me what's wrong? I if anything I can take advantage of that and get my whole engine redone (as long as it's lubricated) if it's major. and lately i've been getting alot of piston slap even after the engine's warm. I did put Fuel injector cleaner in it. could that be the problem?
