Yes you get what you pay for as the old saying goes. If I was to do it again I would have spent the extra cash and saved myself the frustration of the cheap one, but it worked out in the end.

With a little modification the ebay CAI also replaces the accordian tube. Had to cut about 1.5 - 2 in. off the smaller tube and buy a extra coupler from autozone and it fit fine. Without this mod my car ran like crap with the stock accordian tube,
Can you post a picture of what you did with yours? I would like to see that if possible.

I had to cut 1.5 in. exactly off the short tube to make it the same length as the accordian tube. If you measure the stock tube with the airbox still on and cut the new one the same lenght should work out fine, and yes I will try to get a pic before I go to work later today and will post it.

Ok, if you insist on buying the uber cheap Ebay cold air intake, I would highly suggest buying a K&N filter since the ones that come with the Ebay CAI's are VERY poor quality. Plus, with the K&N you can clean it, oil it, and reuse it many times over. Just make sure you know that the metal and quality of the welds is also much lower with the ebay intakes as opposed to the K&N and AEM. But for the price, some people cant pass it up.

As for the bellows tube (what you call the "accordian tube"), you can replace it with a solid piece but your not gaining anything performance wise. I should also point out on the base Neons the bellows tube is a straight piece from the TB to the Intake Manifold, but on the R/T and ACR the tube curves down slightly which makes custom making one more difficult.

i guess its no different than a home-made 'ghetto' intake. as with ghetto mods, not all are bad if they work. you might see a little bit better throttle response with an intake, but no huge gains.

I would rather spend the extra to make sure I get good parts. It's a show car and I don't want cheap stuff on it.
