Default upgrade filter for Ebay CAI?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...mZ290084826920
I purchased the CAI located at the above link. Has anyone else done the same? I am wondering about the filter. The CAI claims to increase HP by 10 to 15hp with its "high flow" air filter. For $40 to $50, I can upgrade the filter to a K&N. Any thoughts?

Go with the K&N filter and you should be fine....you have to make a few "adjustments"when installing that particular cai....but, for 7.99 i guess its worth it...

i dont see why it wouldnt be legal.
the quality does suffer with cheaper intakes, especially the welds and filter quality, and possibly the thickness / heat transparency of the metal used.but then again on the 2.0 you dont have very far to go from the intake to the throttle body, besides the one 90degree bend. but one thing is for sure... the price is right. its just funny how the shipping is over 2X the cost of the item, lol.

Got one of these on mine, the filter that comes with it isnt too bad. Other than sounding good and cleaning up under the hood didnt notice much if any HP increase but for the price what more can you ask.

I bought an actual AEM CAI and it looked much different. It also came with a small tube that replaced the accordian looking piece........does that make any real difference?

With a little modification the ebay CAI also replaces the accordian tube. Had to cut about 1.5 - 2 in. off the smaller tube and buy a extra coupler from autozone and it fit fine. Without this mod my car ran like crap with the stock accordian tube,

For some reason I'm still glad I spent the money on the name brand part. I've heard so much how it's better just to buy quality. I must say, though, it would have been nice to save like $200
