Here you go, directly from the "Official 2nd Gen FAQ and Performance Thread".

Q: What other engines can swap into the 2nd Gen neon?
A: A 2.4 turbo engine from a 03-05 SRT-4 (or PT GT) can be swapped in or the N/A 2.4 from any year PT Cruiser. Most engine/transmission combinations can be found on ebay.com or at local junk yards. Average prices vary from $2,000-$3,500 and up to $5,500 if you choose the "donor car" method.

Q: What do I need to get the SRT-4 engine in my 2nd Gen?
A: For the SRT-4 turbo engine, you will need the following parts:

Engine and Tranny
Complete Engine Wiring Harness
Complete Engine Bay Wiring Harness
Power Steering Pump, lines, and cooler
Clutch master and slave cylinder
Clutch/Brake Pedal assembly
Intercooler Piping
Intercooler
Radiator Hoses
Lower Motor Mounts (the hole in the lower mount is larger for larger bolts)
SRT PCM (wont' need the bracket if swapping into an 03+)
Axles (and half shaft if it isn't on the engine)
Coolant Bottle
Fuel Line from tank to engine bay
Fuel Pump
Flex Fuel line from solid fuel line to fuel rail
Short evap hose that comes from the purge valve
All vacuum lines and the 3 selonids
o2 Sensors
Turbo Housing + o2 Housing
Lower Control Arms (they're stronger yet the same in shape)

Some options parts would include:

SRT Power steering rack (it's shorter)
Knuckles
Flexiable Brake Lines
Calipers
Rotors

Q: What transmission do I use with the swap?

A: You can use either the standard SRT-4 T-850 transmission or the stock Neon 3.55 or 3.94 tranny (the 3.55 came with the SE/SXT and the 3.94 came with the R/T and ACR). I would highly suggest using the T-850 for ease of install and its “proven” record with the 2.4L engine. You can also use an automatic transmission out of the Neon or PT Cruiser with some modification.
all of those parts are not included in the $2000-$3500 dollars are they? If some re which ones?
Any what kind of mods would I need in order to keep my ATX?

No, the $2k-$3.5k would be for everything (not including brake stuff) its just that prices vary depending on the condition fo the items, mileage, and things like that. You would be lucky to find a compelte setup for $2,000 but it is possible...you should budget for closer to $3,500 especially with random stuff you'll need. The automatic tranny bolts up, but it wont be efficient at all and wont last long on stock settings...

The Cam 12 is slightly better than a magnum cam. It will give an RT a small gain.

I've always thought the RTs cam is more comparable to the cam 10.

Yes, the Crane 12 is slightly better then the Magnum cam, but the Magnum cam is much cheaper and the performance differences arent that significant. And the Magnum Cam is more like a Crane 12 then it is a Crane 10...

Well i am going to check some local junk yards for the engine but are there any online places to find the full engine besides ebay? And what do you suggest be done to the stock settings? I definetely won't be able to get a MTX.

on the price of the R/T...
think that comment was spot on... there is a real nice, bright yellow R/T on the same dealer lot that I bought my SE...and the guy said I could have it for right around 10k...did not see the mileage tho....

lol thats funny, the whole season that i started thinking about an R/T conversion was becuase i saw a bright yellow R/T at the dealership where i bought mine! of course it was an employees...

How much do you guys think a SRT-4 engine will cost if it has 30,000-45,000 miles on it?
(my dad doesn't want me to have a car with a lot of mileage[:@])

Is there any reason why you dont want to do the MTX swap while your doing an entire engine swap? An SRT-4 motor with say 40k should cost around $2,000-$2,500 IMO...then add in all the costs for random parts that may not come with the engine, and of course labor since you wouldnt be doing it yourself.

03rt, the normal pt tranny and turbo tranny are different? Because when I get the cash I want the do the stage 3 SRT-4 but keep it auto and I don't want a busted tranny.

the main reason why i don't want to do the MTX swap is becuase of money. I currently have about $2,500
saved up, but my job really is giving me much money to add to that with payments and all.
