Exactly! You have to keep the gear still and untighten the bolt.

Ok.... so... these darn valve springs are giving me a fit. Is there a special valve spring compressor to get them off. The standard ones I have are too big, and even modifying them has given me no success. Im at a loss. If I cant find something tomorrow i am not going to even bother with them.

All you should need to take the valve springs out is a valve spring compressor...some cylinder heads require a special extension tool (like a Ford 4.6) but you shouldnt need one for our valve springs...

Haha... ok. I got all the valve springs off FINALLY!!! Im waiting for a new shipment of valve spring retainers I ordered from the dealership. Some blasted bugger broke one from the factory and shipped it out with a broken Valve spring retainer! GAH!!! Everything on this car has been a pain... but I have replaced everything that might have given me problems in the near future.

Oh... more pics of my installed header and such!

It is both welded and clamped.... so everyone knows...

Yes, I have a new timing and alternator belt. All my belts are gonna be new... plus I have an awesome idea for my timing belt cover! I will post pics when I get around to fabricating the thing. Untill then I have to say.... this install has taken a LONG time but it was worth it. Everything was in dire need of replacement. A lot of my radiator hoses were kinda getting there (the lower ones...), needed new coolant anyways, needed new oil anyways, needed new belts, and the valve spring retainers I didnt even know about. Oh well.

Everything is being replaced, re-filled, and fixed. I cleaned up all the parts I took of this beast too! Needed a good work over badly anyways. Got all new gaskets and EVERYTHING!!! Just lots to do I suppose

Yeah thats what I plan on doing when i hit the big 60,000 in a few weeks...hopefully by then I'll have my new birthday presents (Comp 400 camshaft and 60mm TB)...then I'll replace the head gasket (and remove the center layer), timing belt, alternator, accesssories belts, alt. belt, oil, coolant, tranny fluid, etc...it should be fun.

I like how good that OBX header looks. It still looks brand new. I wish OBX was out when I bought my Pacesetter header.

So is your dad really good working on cars?
