Do a compression test before you decide on rebuilding. These old school Magnums can go forever before a rebuild.
That they can, but I think a few of the lifters are going, and the seals are definitely going out. I get a nice big puff of white smoke upon start up, and it idles rough as rocks for about a minute, then smooths out like it never happened.

You might be able to just install new lifters and do head work.
Or you could pull it and refresh the entire thing. These Magnums are known for still having honing marks after 200k mi.
From what I've seen, those engines have to be worked and driven otherwise they pitch a fit and break stuff. lol
