Replaced my serp belt today and my tensioner pulley. Dressed the brand new Gatorback belt, started to come home from dad's house only to have the belt shred about a half mile away...

Story of my life...

Will troubleshoot it in the morning.

Wow.. that sucks.
I'm running a Gatorback. Not sure how old it is, previous owner put it on.
Looks to be fairly new, though. Just noticed what is was the other day when trying to figure out the source of a leak I believe is a power steering hose.

What do you mean, you "dressed it"?

Install it 'as is' and be done with it.

Just started her up and let her idle for a while then shut her off for the night.

Out of habbit (been doing it for about 25 years since I got my first car), I always hit it with two tiny squirts of belt dressing. Back in the day it was the almost mandatory to do this and it never has caused problems in the past.

That being said I had problems this time and not sure why...

you only use belt dressing on the v style belts, not serpentine.

Well I guess I'm the only person on here that is not smart enough to know that. I do now.
