Finally got around to changing the starter contacts... they weren't as bad as I expected.
I was supersized to find the cover seal was not correctly positioned when the starter was built.
It had hardened into this shape due to heat exposure over time.
So I soaked it in hot water for a while to soften it, then tried to reform it... it was springing back a little, so I tacked the offending areas with a little hot-melt glue until I got it screwed down.
The intermittent 'click' and no crank on start seems to be rectified... though with that little wear, I wouldn't have expected then to be the problem.
I don't drive my truck very much and unfortunately don't have a garage to keep it in right now so I can use a battery tender..
long story short with the onboard electronics and alarm system after 2 weeks the battery gets a little weak and the truck turns over sluggish so I picked up a solar battery charger off of amazon for $20 shipped and so far so good..
will get a real test this summer as I use my motorcycle exclusively and the truck may sit for 3-4 weeks before being needed

I have a solar battery charger on my dump trailer. I use it a couple times a month, and have never had to charge the battery. Leave it parked where it gets some good sunshine, and the battery is pretty much always fully charged.
Installed Timbren helper springs. They were bottomed out so I also reinstalled the rear leaf springs that I had removed a few years ago. Tacoma Spring was able to roll another inch of lift in my leaf springs giving me plenty of clearance off the Timbrens. I look forward to loading some weight in the back and see how much it will handle and how it rides.
I also installed GTR Gen3 LED fog bulbs in the stock housings. Had to trim the back of the lights to make room for the bulbs. They are too bright for for cruising with them on so they will only be used for poor weather conditions with consideration of not blinding other drivers.

put a new account compressor, high pressure line, and dryer on to fix my ac, and also replaced the front brake hoses to stop it from pulling to the right and went and picked up my new tires. Getting the old ram ready for some abuse this year
Today I am going to finish up my plenum repair just need to bolt the fan back on and hook up the battery. This one has been the biggest or worst job I have done to my truck plenty of broken bolts while taking everything apart made it a nightmare. Last truck I did this to took one day I have had this one apart almost a month but should be worth it when I get to hear it start again this evening.
Celebrated 20 years since I picked it up from the dealer with 8 miles on it. Now at 187k neither one of us looks quite as good but we still run pretty well and have a few more miles left in us.
