What did I do to my truck today tho? Story time: Lets start with yesterday...Well, Me and another driver (2 straight trucks i'm talkin about) had to take a household shipment roughly 550-600 miles roundtrip across boring 'ol waterlogged Iowa. Starts out in the morning, I notice my truck is having headlight issues. I tell our mechanic and he doesn't do a damm thing about it. So around 6:30-7:00pm I'm rollin up I-35 from Ames, IA, and my headlights wont turn on. Great. We go for about an hour or two with me about 30 ft. behind the other straight truck, so I can see the lines, and follow his taillights. Soon, it's pitch black outside, getting foggy, and getting VERY dangerous. (dont try that at home kids.) So we pull off in some small hick town, and the town sheriff spots me, pulls me over, and luckily without gaining a citation, escorts us to a Bed and Breakfast to bed down in. I'm about furious with my boss and the mechanic, for putting me in this life-threatening situation (for other travellers.) Sooooo, we leave as soon as the suns up (since I have no headlights) and go deliver our two truckloads of furniture in Forest City, IA. Well during unloading, I lower my lift-gate on back of my truck, and just as my luck goes, The lift-gate wont go back up. I call the mechanic, and he tells me some mumbo jumbo to try, which gets nothing done. We end up lifting the gate by hand, and throw a few straps around it, to hold it up. Now, here I am rolling back like 250+ miles back to Omaha, NE with no headlights, in the rain, by my lonesome, and my tailgate being held up by straps, while I pray that it doesn't drop when I bounce over the overpasses and send sparks all over the interstate. Needless to say, by the time I get back, my nerves are shot, and I'm tired from the stress/ worry, and I've probably called my boss everyname I can think of(not to his face ofc) :P I Call my wife to come get me from the shop, 'cause no way am I leaving my dodge overnight unattended, and we're talking about the whole ordeal, so I'm all fired up by the time I get home. Then.....there it is. My Silver Dodge in the driveway, still covered in mud from the past weekends activities.
And right then, I noticed, I dont care about my stressful trip anymore. So that's what I did to my truck today; fell in love with it all over again.
Sorry for the looooong post, it was much more exciting actually being in the straight-truck with no headlights, and it's a trip I'll never forget. But for all the people that have stressful jobs/ lives and such, a Dodge can be a relief. Have some fun with it :-)
