Caught a CEL for O2 sensor high. Imagine that!

 

Got to drive my truck for the first time "legally" since August 2009. It passed safety inspection so I was able to insure it. FINALLY!!!

Its been a slow boat, but it sure did feel good. I put on 70 miles! just 'cause!

What I noticed:

1. Road noise from the Firestone destination M/T's is acceptable. With radio on and AC blowing you can't hardly hear them.
2. I need to adjust my steering box. I can feel looseness in the steering, and I know my front end is tight. The tech who did my alignment was happy to see a 2'nd gen Ram with a tight fron end...
3. I have a coolant leak somewhere...
4. I have an intermittent squeak somewhere in the drive belt system.
5. 3 and 4 are probably related. I bet its a water pump, but may be an idler.
6. When I went to pick up the truck it had a dead battery. This happened once in the garage after I was working on it one night. Not sure what to make of this, other than noting that I am making 14ish volts when running.
7. The Cherry Bomb glass pack is cool! Sounds great! Just like every other sound clip of a glass pack on a 2'nd gen ram.
8. I need new windshield wipers! Rain sucks...

All in all I am really happy with the first outing.

 

Changed the oil on it yesterday- Dealt with the Wix filter from hell too. Filter came off in pieces. Still not sure how that happened.

Checked Trans fluid... Investigated as to where the transmission fluid leak was coming from- Upper seal. That means I'm not going to mess with it. 1 Quart over 3-4 months? Yea, I'm not worried.

Logged 600 miles with her today and averaged 13.6 with a little over 1200 in the bed for half of that mileage. I'm happy. Anxious to see what she does in the next week with a highway trip and nothing in the bed.

Pretty sad when my truck has a busted up nose and I'll still drive it over our 2008 Chevy Avalanche or the 04 Ford F-350...

 

Is that flat tire the reason you got new ones?
Mine had two flat tires and I parked it for about a week while I was waiting for a new set to get here on the big brown truck.

 

My rear bumper is primered and waiting to be sanded.
All the bumper hardware has been treated and painted.
Several spots on the frame have been wire brushed and treated.

T-30 days...tick, tick, tick...

 

well i picker her up from the shop today. it felt so nice to finally hit 60mph in her again. lol. though it still feels like its starting out in second gear. even when i drop it in 1st manually, though when im driving and slow down to about 15 and drop it into 2nd, then 1st, i can feel the downshift, so idk. ima talk to the guy again tommorwm

 

i took the exhaust system off of the crashed truck and put it on the new truck.
