I just took the thing out today, tempting fate to throw icy roads at us again. After a winter's use I have to say that I like the thing just fine. It provided weight, and didn't slosh around even though it spent most of the winter holding liquid water because I generally keep the truck garaged.
The neat part is that after I drained it and removed the hold-downs I lifted the thing out of the bed with just one hand and with no risk of harming my already thrashed back. I just opened the drain/fill contraption before taking the wife to work and let it drain as I drove, then folded it over the tailgate after getting home again to get most of the rest of the water out. After that, with maybe a pint left inside it, I hung it from the deck for a while, then worked the last of the water out, folded it up and put it back in the (flimsy) zippered plastic bag it came in. It'll hang out of the way on the garage wall until the snow flies in the Fall.
About the only downside I can see is that once it's in and frozen it'd be a bear to remove until it thaws again. I removed it once, but had several days of parking in the garage to allow the ice to melt. Removing it in a hurry would require a strong back.

Yesterday: New o2, new serpentine belt with pulleys, new coolant temp sensor (the gray one). Also pulled both pieces of the t-case tailhousing off to re-seal the inner one. Let it sit and cure all night.
Today: Filled up transfer case with ATF+4, no leaks!
