you did it right. there is just nothing to burn clean. the thing don't have a leaking plenum to help carbon up the engine. plus a nice burnout would have the inside of that engine clean in no time.

When I replaced the plugs, they were almost cold-fouled. So I figured that there would have been a bunch of carbon in there. Guess not. I put closer to factory heat range plugs in it and it has been a whole lot more responsive.


Well, I put 440-spec plugs in it. Oh well.

my dad told me the big blocks seem to like AC Delco plugs but then again that was years ago when quality mattered.

It's got factory Champion RJ12YC's in it. New cap, rotor, and wires.
Runs pretty well considering it's 36 years old.

Yeeees. RJ. It uses "hex" plugs as opposed to "peanut" plugs like our trucks.
Also, make note, I REPLACED the wires, plugs, cap and rotor.
