Thats the only one he had.. He said when he gets it pulled out of the truck he will take more and send them

Mine was $3447.90, delivered to Las Vegas, NV, including the billet converter, Derale pan, internal filter extension, remote filter, and a can of flush for the radiator and cooler. Oh, and a free t-shirt AND a free temperature gauge that I'll likely never use because most of its sweep is in the "holy crap I just smoked off my transmission" range.

haha yea.. I know when I priced one from them it was up in that range... I am trying to decide if this one is worth the price.. I would have to change sensors from mine to this one for it to work... Any advice?

Ideally, the pan was never pulled and the contents can be inspected. If this is the case, the bottom of the pan looks good, and it comes with a billet converter, I'd jump it at $2500 or below. It's easy enough to dump some cleanish old fluid into the pan, but it's not so easy to get it into the internals once the unit is taken out of service.

Heck, if I could get a nice price I'd offer to help the guy pull it. Do that and you can see what drains out of the converter, even if he's already got the pan empty. As hard and fast as a Mega Viper's clutches are mashed together you should expect to see less friction material than would come from a stocker with similar miles behind it. These things are just hell for strong, so if the fluid's looking good it's a safe enough bet that the unit is good, too.

Thats good advice. I talked to him and he is pulling it out tonight. He wanted his temp sensor from it which ment it got drained. He said that everything smelt fine and was clean. I asked him to save the bucket of fluid for me to look at myself. I will check it out and tip it like you suggested to see if everything looks like he says. Maybe even pull the pan off and have a look inside.

You buy a used automatic without putting fingers inside the pan and I'm going to hire a big ugly mean dude to drop by your house in the middle of the night and put fresh bumps on your head!

PS: Stupid me, I forgot about the transfer case being part of his package deal. The numbers in my previous post are for the transmission/converter alone.

Transfer case is out of the deal. shift patterns changed from 96 to 2000... Im on the hook for finding one.. He just sent me more pictures. I will post them in a moment.

Oh yeah: Find out which shift kit setting it's got. Anything more than heavy duty is ungood for a 4WD pickup, would make for crappy traction on slick pavement or dirt roads and just pound the hell out of u-joints and ring/pinion gears. PATC would know if it's possible to dial back if need be. I have to be careful on packed snow and washboard roads that the 1-2 shift doesn't get the truck crossed up.

dlyter, just scrape up the cash and buy it! It is the deal of the century! (well, in your world it would be) Just remember to get a better t-case.
