So I think it's just not meant for me to mow the grass
Went to test drive the mower today, started right up, mowed great, ran great, loaded it into the bed of the Ram, got it home (maybe 1 mile) and of course it wouldn't start
Guy who is selling it said he wasn't sure but the battery may be bad but it's started right up for us all 3 times we've started it, so not much reason to doubt the battery.
It maintains 12.5 volts, drops to sometimes 4+ or 9+ volts when trying to start, the solenoid contact for the wire that goes to the starter melted. He thinks he's got another one.
Battery is on charge, does seem to have trouble turning the starter, unless the starter is going bad, but I'm sure he has one of those too....
Maybe tomorrow I'll get some mowing done.
Wifey goes for a job interview tomorrow

I second this, and I will be doing the same in any thread from now on. It's getting out of hand, nobody wants to make DF not fun.(which is why I love it too) But it's more than that, any one doing a search and just wants some simple info , has to read pages of uselessness also. I really hope you all understand the point.
This thread is back on topic it seems as of right now, lets keep it that way please, as well as the other numerous threads that have gotten out of of hand.

He's a good guy, restores mowers for a living. He hasn't had this mower for too long, and it hasn't given us any problems the 3 times before that we used it.
Weird.
But I do think the battery is bad, when it couldn't turn the starter I may have hooked up some jumper cables to the Yoter which may have contributed to the melting of the contact on the solenoid, but with the extra power it cranked over just fine....
Yes, you understand correctly!
