there's a guy in the cummins section that butchers trucks and makes shortbed reg cabs out of cummins trucks

I wouldn't want a reg cab short bed...

I like my quad cab. and if my bed was any shorter it would be useless...

I prefer the longer wheelbase because it is more stable on the ground.

less risk of rollover with a longer wheelbase.

Wheelbase doesn't help with rollovers. Track width does.

well lets see...longer wheelbase = less risk of washing out the rear end and easier to regain control if you do wash out the rear end...

o if you wash out the rear end and can't regain control and your tire hits the curb and you roll cause your wheelbase is short and your truck is jacked up...well now your short wheelbase f-ed ya didn't it?

longer wheelbase can also handle same amounts of lift better... longer drivelines = less extreme angles when lifted.

and typically longer wheelbase vehicles are wider anyway. unless they are a chevy lol...

btw my ram is without a doubt wider (2000 and later rams have wider front axles than 99 and older rams)

If you hit a curb, longer wheel base isn't going to help you.

I don't have a problem recovering from a loose rear end, regardless of wheel base. From CJ's, to 5-ton military trucks. (I DO, however, have a problem running OVER curbs in the longer wheel base trucks.... )

Longer wheel base is most certainly more forgiving of lifts. For exactly the reasons you state.

I don't think the heavier duty trucks are any wider than the lighter duty cousins. Aside from the 1 tons... those are obviously wider. (trucks of the same year.... model year changes don't count. )

ah but you might not have washed out the rear end of a longer wheel base rig... so you wouldn't have hit the curb.

personally I would feel safer in a top fuel dragster than I would in a top fuel funny car...
