The Official 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
I have two old now 024 and a 034 great saws, never any problem with them at all. Like everything they are only as good as you take care of them. Yep not cheap but like you said never need another saw again. From what I see in the back of the loggers trucks up here Stihl is still the most used saw up here, and we don't have pecker poles for trees here, most are over 3' at the base and thats a small tree. My saws are too small to log with I just use them for firewood at the campground if needed.

I had a Husqvarna Timber Ranch 55 back around 1999 or so. That was a fantastic saw with a nice, wide chain that went through a white oak like butter. The previously owned Oregon Beaver was a complete turd.
When my ex took off, she decided that since she paid for the Husky it was hers, even though it was my birthday gift. One of her idiot siblings ran straight gas through it and destroyed the engine.

We have an old poulan saw. Cuts good if you keep the chain oiled. The oil shooter thing just squirts all the oil out in one giant stream, so you have to use the old little oil can every couple cuts
We don't use it a lot so it's no big deal

It's not hard to make your own chain, one tool to spin the rivets down and a roll of chain and some joiner links. If you use a saw lots this will save you big cash, same goes with a powered bench chain sharpener. I think I paid $400 for every chain saw chain tool needed to make and sharpen chains. I would think these would be cheaper to get down there.
The last chain I bought was an Oregon brand chain still going good today. I am out of touch on what is a good chain these days, not like I do it for a living anymore.
