I'm beat. Got 6 trees, 1 Walnut, 4 Poplar, and 1 Maple downed and cut up ready to be split.
Gonna skip the back breaking labor of splitting with an ax and rent a wood splitter.
Figure I'll need at least 6 more trees for firewood
Fun fun

Firewood, never seems to end... I suspect it takes between 4-6 cords to heat this place, sometimes more. We had 4 fireplaces going during that damn polar vortex...
However if you want some Poplar firewood.....

Be a bit of a drive.
Yeah, the plan for this summer is to install a woodburner. (already have it.) I have propane at the moment, and rumor has it the price I am paying is going to double.... I can't afford that. I can get all the wood I want at my parents place for free. Most of it is already on the ground, just need to buck it up, and split it. I see a wood splitter as one of my future purchases..... In the meantime, I will borrow a friends.

I have 3 different splitting mauls, and a double edged ax, they get the job done but it's not fast.
Maple can be a bitch to split, as the Poplar can be too.

I have a splitting maul, along with wedges, and other assorted such like, trouble is, I am not capable of splitting much wood the manual way. I have Multiple Sclerosis, the right side of my body is only about 60% functional, I tire quickly...... I would take me years to split enough wood for one heating season.
I will use the gas powered toy, thank you very much.
