the business end looks somewhat decent (you got a few hot spots, though) on all but one of them, but how old are those things? their worn to nuthin'.. and, what the hell got over the outside of them?

Thats corrosion from probably being the original spark plugs...... It likes to wick up the plug boots.

I'm guessing they're over 100K miles as they aren't original Ford part numbers. I basically describe them as having crystallized shiat on them, save for the one that's oil soaked. These engines seem to have an issue with the valve guide seals, and considering this bad boy has over 235K on it, I'm impressed with how smooth it runs -- especially after I replaced both the plugs and the plug wires. The misfire on #3 went away (guess which on that is )

Actually, it's dirt and gunk from when I was power washing the engine to clean up the oil that was being flung around by a leak from the oil filter adapter mount. The plugs are seated really deep in these heads. Enjoy the thread.

I changed a coil pack and a thermostat on a friends crown vic one time, the space around the plugs is like a magnet for any liquid that gets near the engine.
