There used to be, but they threw me out. Said I was ruining the reputation of the neighborhood by having too much fun.

serious question.... is it wrong to have your dog put down, and then turn around about a month later and get a new puppy?

im having my 16 year old pup put down tomorrow, and kinda wondering about that...

I think it would be wrong if the dog was healthy and had no reason to be put down....But if the dog is suffering or had a legitimate reason to be put down,I think it would be ok to do that and then get a new puppy...

he got into the trash the other day, and has been sick since. today he started having seizures. so thus the reason for putting him down. hes given me 16 amazing years. and i cant stand to see him suffer. ill be bringing him home for burial too. cant stand the thought of cremation.....

I don't see why it would be wrong.

I don't know about where you are, but most big towns have 24 hour emergency pet clinics. You might search for one.

we have one about 20~ minutes away, but they want 250 for a dog to be put down. compared to our vet at only 65...

So maybe they can do something for him, aside from putting him down? Any idea what he ate??

Hard decision, but if the pup is suffering, it may be best to put it down and put it out of it's suffering. Hard I know...

Nothing wrong with getting a new pup, just might be a little hard cause of the attachment... But for some it is the absolute best thing they could do is to get a new one right away.

16 years is a pretty good run for a dog, having said that I'd take the dog and see if the vet could do something. My dog went through something similar a few months ago... it was a lengthy recovery but she's okay today.

All the dog gets is dog food now, super careful about what she get's into.

At the end of the day if the dog has to be put down I see no reason not to get a puppy.

On a side note, I was DEAD set against getting a dog but my wife talked me into it and I have to say... I love this little dog of ours.

i think he ate ham out of the trash, from christmas. other than that, no idea. he hasnt moved since his last seizure(around 3pm today) i just sat him up to see if he would drink any water, and he could barely hold himself up.
