Stewie01, Unity is terrible. If you like Mandrake 8 or Red Hat 6, you are gonna absolutely love this O/S. It is heavily based on Linux kernel and software from that time. Essentially we are taking the "cream of the crop" of Linux and its applications up to 2006 or so and combining the best into one, creating our own O/S. So its gonna have KDE 3.5, GNOME 2.0 (Sawfish or Enlightenment), and all the good old reliablilty. Since the code base is much smaller than newer Linux software, it runs absolutely fabulous on any hardware from year 2000 or newer. That newer part currently runs up to about 2006, we are working on bringing in support for more hardware. So you get the best of all time. Reason we call it our own OS is that we have to provide all software updates and support. Don't worry: our team is currently 8 members and growing.

Bus speed between system ram, and ram on the vid card, is a pretty significant speed difference..... especially for gaming.
I want to be able to run my games on an O/S that is MUCH lighter than Windows..... Microsoft seems to want to be a 'do it all' (at the same time) O/S, and that eats performance..... So, if I could run directx games under a better O/S, I would be VERY happy.

I play mostly RPG games. Lot of the Bethesda titles. Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Oblivion, and now, Skyrim.
Do a fair few of the older RTS games as well. Heroes 3, Empire Earth. And a few others..... I don't really care for online gaming, and certainly not MMO's... Don't do first person shooters (call of duty, that kind of thing) as my "twitch skills" just aren't up to par.
