this is especially the case in european cars.

VW, Audi, BMW, merccedes, etc... they all go through rotors as fast as they go through pads...

they have tremendous stopping power, but because of that stopping power, their parts wear out faster.

I do still have rotors and drums turned...when I did the brakes on my diesel I went to a local auto shop in maple valley (about 5 miles from me) to have my drums turned. the shop owner charged me a reasonable fee to turn them so it was worth it to have them turned rather than buying new ones. next time I do brakes though I will have to replace them as they won't have enough meat on them left to turn them again.

cheaper price got me a few more years out of them though!

only cost me like $5 a drum to get them turned.

and not a bad job either:

stewie you should try some Angel Bendito Extra Añejo Tequila.

One of the smoothest tequilas I've ever had. Its not something you would pound or drink cold though..Like a fine wine you would sip it. best served at room temp and never mixed with anything, nor do you put ice in it or salt and lemon/lime crap...stuff is so good its ridiculous!

very flavorful and aromatic. aged 6 years in oak barrels. The color is ridiculous! stuff goes in the barrel clear (blanco) and comes out mahogany colored 6 years later.

you're not going to find it any any local liquor store though....

as far as I know it is only sold in cali, 1 place in texas, and 1 place in memphis. you gotta order it online. runs about $100/750ml

its affordable for top shelf tequila.

i gotta side with v-dub here...

rotors can be bought brand spanking new for $20 an OE rotor.. I put new ones on the dodge before I parted with it, and paid $15ea for rear rotors, and $20ea for front.. it isn't worth the time to take off an old rotor and put a turned one back on for the price of putting a new one on..

those things are one of the items sellers love to mark WAY up.. shop around.. they can be had for silly cheap..

I can't remember the name of it, but we brought back some really good sipping tequilla from Cancun last October. Kinda like what Jig is talking about. You sip it. It is some really good ****. I wish we had bought more.

For you half ton guys, rotors aren't much more than having them turned. For my truck, having them turned is half price, also, there is a LOT of meat on them before they get to the 'throw them away' point, and I can cut 'em twice, and perhaps three times before they are trash. How much money does THAT save me.
