Stats I quoted are related to the number of background checks and number of denials. Nothing about the 50% number, which in my opinion, is not measureable.

The 95% mental illness number is also myth. It is estimated that nearly 72% of people that may have mental illness have never been diagnosed.... Not always detectable in and autopsy. Anger, hostility and a propensity for violence are not diagnosed mental illnesses (but maybe they should be).

And Brady is still in effect - the Assault Weapons Ban has expired.

Bottom line, we have two choices ..either work to find a solution to the violence, or accept the body count and quit shedding meaningless tears for dead children. I don't have the solution, or I would run for king......heehee....

And Stewie, I saw that! Some sh@t is going on! And some idiot is posting that Family Guy episode on Sunday showed Boston Marathon with a bombing.... It is so hard to sort out facts from fiction nowadays. Wonder if there is any real confirmation on the Ricen...

We should just ban Mental Illness!

Once many years ago I visited my Aunt & Uncle in Fairfax, Va, we were out in DC checking out the shops, I was outside a store drinking some Tea and a homeless man asked me if I could give him a ride across town because he needed to cash his social security checks so he could pay his violent crime fees.

Huh? I watched last Sunday's Family Guy and there was nothing about Boston in it, period. They made fun of Canadian Strip Joints.

According to CNN the Ricin has been verified 3 times, and was sent off for further testing.

Tried cleaning my old plenum plate, too much work.
So I tossed it back onto the porch where it's been for the past year.

Thanks. But it should be ok. It wasn't so much knocking as it was just the clank-ity clank clank you get when it's low on oil OR when it REALLY cold out and the oil is all thick....

When I bought the truck it didn't leak ANYTHING.

Now the front & rear main seals leak a tad. Got a power steering leak I can't identify.

Mine did that when the plenum was bad.

Back in the day of full service gas stations that would never have happened, me I check my oil every two days and walk around my truck at least once a day to check things over. Just call it truck ocd lol.
Yep.
Not quite every two days, but I check it often even though I don't drive it much. I get the oil changed when ever it gets black, since I usually pass the time requirement but not the mileage...

Oh yeah, I also forgot the time when I did the cap and rotor on the 76. The diagram in the manual was backwords, so my dad had to help me move all the wires around the cap 180*

So I picked up a fairly new Murray Push Mower with the Briggs-Stratton Engine, the spring for the throttle was not doing it's job, so the engine only ran at low rpm, doesn't work too well for mowing, so I adjusted it a bit and it runs great, but man does it EAT gas. It's worse than my Ram...

As I see it... (and, I will grant that I am not precisely what most folks would consider "conventional"...) The easiest way to reduce the frequency/impact of the mass shootings is..... Get rid of the gun free zones. Let folks carry where they will. It ISN'T the licensed, armed folks that are causing all the ruckus. So, instead of spending money putting armed guards in various places that can't afford to pay for them... (schools....) Allow the folks there to carry if they so desire. Even if NO ONE actually takes advantage of the opportunity, the prospective mass-shooter is going to have no way of knowing that he WON'T be facing armed opponents, and will be far less likely to indulge in his mass-murder fantasies. And if one should... being able to shoot BACK would have made those six teachers that died at Sandy Hook FAR more formidable opponents. Not to mention the theater shooter.

It isn't the ideal solution.... but, it would accomplish something NONE of the currently proposed laws would. Reduce the body count.

That's bad......

I went out and did some yard cleanup today.... got my tractor running and functional last month, in hopes of some good weather. Finally got some today. Holy SMOKES is that tractor effective. (JD 216, with 46 inch deck) Went thru grass that hasn't been mowed in two years like it wasn't even there. Mulched up the sticks and such hidden there rather well too..... I was suitably impressed. Need to sharpen the blades now though methinks.
