Dont get me wrong, but wondering why all this worry about gas mileage. You all drive trucks, full size trucks at that. They was not built to get good mileage, they were built to work. You want good mileage buy a small car. You want to have a work, play toy, keep your truck. No truck full size that is, will ever break the 20 or better MPG range unless it is just driving in a straight line with no hills and no load, with the wind behind it. And believe me, this saying my next truck will be a Chevy or Ford, do you think your mileage will be much better in one of those?
I own a Ford, and I will drive my Dodge any day over it, my Ford gets if it is lucky 10mpg, HWY. But I dont expect it to get any better, I accept it. Cause it is a Full size truck and I know thats about as good as it gets.

By the way, My 1997 Dodge, with the 5.9 Auto, 265x16 tires, CAI and Free Flow exhuast gets anywhere from 13 to 18, running the air and my average hwy cruise speed is 70mph. Yes I wish it was better, but I deal with it cause it is what it is.

Also, cant compare 2 wheel drive to 4wd, V6 to 318 to 360, manual to auto, or gear ratios. Every truck will get differant mileage, depending on how it is built and drove. Point, my wife gets 3 mpg less driving the same car as me. She dont speed or drive hard, just her style of drivng is differant.
Remember a V6 in a full size truck will get less mileage per gallon as it is having to work harder pulling the same weight as a V8 does. If you think about this is makes sence. HP verse Weight.

Please no one take offence at this, just stating facts is all.
I think that we are all asking what each other are getting because its interesting to see the wide differences. I mean I saw a guy with a lifted truck telling me he got 8mpg and I saw a guy saying his is stock and gets 18. Thats a hell of a spread there. I am very intrested in everyones response. I get about 13.8 with 265/70/16s on. That hemi that turns off half the engine is looking better and better. Just dont want to dish out 25-30 grand to save a few miles per gallon. I can buy alot of gas for 30g
