I bought a 1999 Ram Sport 1500 4-wheel drive 2 years ago from a local Dodge Dealer. 3 months ago I noticed 2 small cracks near the left and right defrost vents. Now the crack on the left stretches from the vent to the instrument panel trim and the other is about 6" long. It sounds like from what I hear from other poststhat it's fixing to crumble into pieces. My cup holder hinge also broke (probably manufactured out of the same material). I do not know the history of previous owners using Amorall on the dash but I never used it. This truck looks great and has never been abused since I've owned it. I drive a big rigso it pretty much sits a week at a time. A recall sure seems to be in order when considering the quantity ofowners having this problem. I have the same problem mine cracked on the passenger side and right in the center, no damage has ever been to my truck. 2001 Dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4

 

I Just bought a 2001 ram 1500 v6, and I know it has a few cracks in the dash. However I didnt realize that it was this major of a problem, The truck is in great shape, only has 32,000 miles on it and no mechanical or external body issues. I am hoping that this is soemthing that wont be a nightmare like the stories I have read here, if any one has any suggestions please let me know. I would like to take some appropriate measure to keep it from gettign any worse, if there is any possible solution.

That sux. didn't know the problem made it to the 3rd gen trucks.

 

Just noticed about 2 weeks ago my 2002, 2500 quad diesel with 55,000 miles on it had started to crack. I bought this rig new and never had any problems with it. Maybe just acoincidence, now I'm having trouble with my lights. Last Friday morning the low beams refused to come on, I changed the bulbs, and checked the switch, all of a sudden low beams started to work. Went out 2 days later, indicator and tail lights wouldn't work. Found a blown 15 amp fuse under the hood. I don't have a very warm fuzzy feeling about this.

 

I am the original owner of a 2002 RAM 1500 Quad Cab that has only 47,000 miles. I got into my truck on Monday and out of the blue there is a largeCRACK on the dash piece that sits closer to thewindshield (center,near speaker). The truck is in excellent condition, I keep it very clean, and consistantly use a sunshade. This could not be worse timing however, becauseI wasplanning on listing the truck for sale and purchasing a 2007 RAM Mega Cab this month. Based on this thread however, Iam re-thinking my plan on buying another dodge. Anyone think the quality has improved on the '07s, orshouldwe expect more of the same??

I have a '97 Ram 2500. Have the same problem with the dash,cupholder, vents and PAINT. I lovingly refer to the truck as "my scabby ol' Dodge. I have had the same problem with the local dealer not giving a damn about the problems .
