Mine just cracked last week. Small crack about 1" in length coming off one of the defrost holes. Hoping it doesn't spread. I wouldn't sue Chrysler over it though, my truck is 8 yrs old. I can see if it were happening left and right on brand new trucks, that would be different.
drill a small hole at the end of the crack, should prevent it from spreding

I don't know about others but I bought this truck brand new in 1999. It has about 80,000 miles so it would not be considered high mileage. The truck has not been abused by any means. Dash began cracking within4 years. It now has large gaping holes. I tried to get it fixed initially but the answer was no. I have spoken to more than one individual at more than one dealership and been told that Dodge was well aware of the problem. Seems it has to do with certain years and is a combination of the plastics and stress placed on it from the way it is installed. Of course they would not admit to any problem or authorize repair. Those of you that don't have a problem that's wonderful but please why not try to be alittle more sympathetic and understanding to those that do. If someone wants to complain let them and quit beating them up for it.

To say that ford or chevy trucks dont have dash problems is idiotic...

Every brand has better things than others, sure maybe chevys andfords have better dashs than dodges... who the **** cares... honestly.
Its like saying dodges suck becasue there is a few rust spots... **** happens
I dont understand why everyone thinks chrylser should fix it.
If it happend with in the warrenty period, yes they should but the truck is really only guarunteed then.

Ok thats saying when they put a faulty part in the car they shouldn't recall it. Whats the difference here? They used a faulty plastic that cracks and breaks.

I have a 99 Ram also and mine only has 73,000 miles. The dash looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it but the rest of the interior looks new. Those that say this is normal for a vehicle, I'm going to respectfully disagree. I have owned 86 Suzuki Samurai, 96 F150, 88 Silverado, 96 Contour, 88 BMW, 93 Grand Cherokee, 88 Cougar, 01 Stratus R/T, 95 Licoln Towncar. None of these vehicles ever had the dash crack and all of them except the Stratus(which I totaled at 30,000miles) had far more miles/wear and tear than my Ram. I still have the lincoln and with 141,000 miles the dash is still like new. I'm not going to sue Dodge but if someone thinks its a problem that should be addressed I won't stop them, and I wont complain if Dodge offered to recall them and put a new "dash shell" in.

It only seems to be the "shell" piece on top as the part with the radio and glove compartment are still in great shape.

My dash started out with a little crack and over time spread throughout the whole dash to where it was horrible. I kind of think Dodge should be nice and recall these but I doubt they will. I just replaced mine with one I bought at the dealer.

Hopefully you will have better luck than me. I had mine replaced ~3 years ago and bought a sun shade. Guess what, the new one is cracking worse. I hope something comes of this and they replace them.
