Agreed, if there factory shocks, just go with Bilstein HD's, you won't be disappointed!

Didnt get my truck from a dealer, bought it from a dude that baught it from a car lot that bought it from a rebuilder. Hahahah It has a rebuilt salvage title. Anyways, so the best wat to find out my lift is to measure from the ground to the frame? Thne compaire that to stock ride height? Stock right height form my truck is.......??

Thanks all. I'll look into the bilsteins. Any skyjacker fans? I have those on my jeep.

Did you Find a part number on your current shocks? If you knew that it would help you out on knowing if you need shocks made for a lift...

i would do like dodgepwr the part number would get you all the info you needed just look under the truck if the shocks are black they are more than likely factory if they are any other color than that it either means they replaced the shocks or got a lift for it in which case it would be best to just get the part # like he said

I'm gunna do the shocks and stabilizer at the same time. should I keep the same brand all around? Whats the best bang for the buck?

Are KYB shocks good? Do stock 2500's have lift blocks on the rears between the axle and leafs? Stock height is 77.1, thats to the roof of the cab correct?

KYB's are good but are known to have a bit more of a plush ride to them compared to the Bilstein's and Eddies.

I consider KYB shocks to be cheap junky shocks, but thats just my opinion.

I had a set of Monroe Gas Magnums, and the rear was stiff enough for me (especially unloaded), but the front was to mushy. Put some RS5000 (Rancho) shocks up front, and nice and stiff like I like it now.

Edelbrocks get mixed reviews, depending on a person's preferences (nothing wrong with the shocks themselves, not that I've heard). I have yet to see any credible person go against Bilsteins, only reason I didn't grab a set is the price and I got the RS5000s locally.

I also had RS5000s on my 1996 5.2, LOVE THEM. I am buying them again for my 2001 because the stock ones are going (49K miles). I also got the RS5000 stabilizer. With the deal they have (50 dolar rebate on 5) it is like getting the stabilizer for free.

On my 5.2, I went from RS9000s to RS5000s. The RS9000s were completely SHOT. They were doing nothing. But they were about 70K old. I probably drove them for about 20K when they should have been changed.

My truck is REALLY stiff, even with what are probably the factory shocks....... I don't really wanna put something on there that is going to make it even stiffer.... but, I think SOME damping is certainly in order.... you guys still recommend the RS5000's?

Hey You, If they are stiff, then don't replace them because they are not broken.
