Meanest Looking 2nd Gen Truck of All Time!
I think its a pretty cool truck. The guy is just like any one of us in the fact that it is his play toy and he built it the way he wanted it, whether it be a little extreme or not. I personally think these guys that take there dd trucks and mud em up are crazy. I only have 2wd as my dd, but if I want to go playin in the woods Ill hop in the ol wore out cj and give er hell. Then if I tear it up I can haul it home and leave it broke if need be and still get to work. I think pavement pounders **** me off more than "homie" trucks because they are impractical as hell and cost a ton more to repair .
Thats like this guy I work with has an 01 cheby thats lifted to the sky and got fancy wheels and tires, its his dd, and his only ride. It seems like every month for the past 6 months he had to replace axle seals, and bearings and all kinds of drivetrain goodies because he used to root it pretty hard(he hasnt seen mud in over a year and still having all these probs with it). I finally got through to him of how hard mud and water is on vehicle. I just cant understand taking something that nice and putting it in the mud. I work too hard for my stuff so I try to take care of it.
Thats what Im saying, I have an old diesel ford that does my towing and BS work. My Ram just drives me around.
Alright, I'm Ok now. I just hate it when folks post their personal feelings as gospel. BTW, I dig lifted 4x4s. The look so much better to me than any other lifted trucks. I am comtemplating building an 01 CTD 4x4. I would take one of those needing work over a brand new ford or gm. I have a 4x2 now and I will lower it a few inches (almost no towing done ever) and try to find some nice 22"s, after I build a mean engine/tranny.
Its not that hard. It just took me about 2 years to find the valvecovers on ebay at a decent price. I got them for 118 shipped. Ussually the bidding stops anywhere between 120-150, but I got them for 101 plus shipping.
Be patient.
And my truck was well taken care of by the first owner and garage kept. Living in coastal california helped because it pretty much stays at 60 degrees all year round. So no drastic temp changes.
I had a lifted 2ndgen before this one (3 inches). and all this truck has is a leveling kit and the stock lift from the off road package. So it is slightly less of a lifted truck. I kinda grew out of the "lift em high and make it loud" persona from my first truck.
Now i am more about, "Clean looking, and healthy sound." I still have the three cats on it. The only thing i don't like about that, is that there are more cats to clog. And replacing a 3 cat system is $$$$$$.
Heck, I had a 1986 IROC Z28. Stereotypical Italian Guido from NJ. Looking back, my camaro was not as "tight" as I thought it was. And my first 2ndgen was a bit hillbilly. Funny how I went totally opposite sides of the spectrum in a matter of 2 years between my camaro and ram.
I think that the whole "primer gray" is the thing that pisses me off the most. He spends all that money to get the rims, and the stupid decals, and posts vids on youtube, AND THE TRUCK IS NOT EVEN COMPLETE!! Then I just spiral from there.
in my opinion, you cannot show off your car, when the only paint on it is PRIMER.

Not a big fan of the truck. But it's also not mine. For me it's a stock truck with known crappy parts replaced. Not to mention anything flashy in my city will get it stolen if parked outside and sometimes even parked inside.
Y'all are a tough crowd! Be thankful you guys don't post up in 3rd Gen Ram where there is a pretty big "lowered" following. Make one comment that you ain't crazy about a lowered one, or one that is completely blacked out or that you like a piece of diamond plate or stainless trim and they get down right defensive. LMAO...
Personally, I'd never lower a truck, to me it's sacrilege, and have seen only a couple I like the looks of, but my philosophy has always been: "It's your truck, your money, do whatever the hell you want to it and don't listen to anybody else"...
