I have a better idea: I'll do it on MY truck if mine should ever go, that way no one else is at risk. If it blows again later, I'll stand right up and eat crow publicly and let everyone say they told me so.

I did the math and plugged it into a thread here in the forum. I just don't see that tiny bit of relative motion as a contributing factor.

I wonder: How frequently does anyone hear of the TSB fix later failing?

The guy at Hughes told me that the main problem is that the bolts are too long and bottom out in the manifold and they've been dealing with magnum motors for quite a while so I would think they know what they're talking about.

If you got the money for the air gap get it. If not get a new plenum plate, and save up for an air gap. IMO

I have to step in say to not even think about anything except for a new manifold altogether. It has been all the rage to just swap the bolts, pan and gasket, but I know of a few shops across the nation that are working on these motors saying that even with the upgrade, the gasket is still blowing out. It's just not as apparent as it was in the past. Look at Sheriff too.

There are threads on other sites, but I'm not linking to them for competition reasons.
