Laramie, I had to quote you one this...too funny for me! You prefer your truck over the Viper? REally? You mind me asking what yr and model you drove? If you were cruising the Vegas strip, would you change ur mind?

2008 SRT-10 It was not the ACR edition. Coupe.

They are a neat car, but I would never feel comfortable in one. It's just something you have to understand about me, I fall into the big block V8 fan category. I don't care about how well it handles, I don't care about how fast I can take a corner... I care about 1/4 mile times. To me, all disputes can be handled at a 1/4 mile at a time. The problem I have with the Viper is it has a very small niche market, and they have problems getting the power to the ground from a stand still. To me, if you can't get the power to the ground from a stand still, then the car is not worth much.

Again, the Viper is a great car, but it's just not my style. You would find me in the tuner scene before you would the super car scene, and that's saying a hell of a lot for the people that don't know me.

It would be possible for me to change my mind in that aspect, but the odds are, no, I would not. I have cruised the strip before, and honestly, with all the traffic out there, I would much prefer riding in a stretch limo with a 151 shooter in my hand and the car filled with glorious blonds...

To be totally honest, if I had to pick a replacement truck RIGHT now, I would say it would have to be either the 2010 Ram 1500, or a 2005-2006 RCSB SRT-10 Ram. At least with the viper ram, you can throw a set of ladder bars underneath it and keep the tires hooked...

If I had to pick a car RIGHT now, it would probably be either the Challenger or the Charger. Both are heavy weights, but they have something that the Camaro and the Mustang do not. They have creature comforts. Not to mention, right now I feel that the Challenger is the only retro styled muscle car on the market that holds true to its former legends. The Camaro looks nothing like what it should have been, and the Mustang... Sheesh, the Mustang is pure ugly to me. (Not to mention the fact that I would have problems being seen in what most consider a chick car)

Also, let it be stated that I predict the Camaro to have some transmission issues later down the road. Especially if owners start to pep them up. I feel that they shift WAY too soft. Great for low powered cars, but not that high powered V8.

I disagree with you that the Mustang is a chick car, especially the new 5.0, and seeing it has the same wheel base as the original 1968 Mustang, it is the closest to its Muscle Car roots.

With that said, I would still prefer my Ram over a Viper on the Vegas Strip. Vipers, and European exotics are a dime a dozen in Las Vegas. I actually got a change to drive a 250,000 dollar 2005 Ford GT from one Ford Dealer to another (Only because the supercharger was not activated yet), as my father is the service manager at a Ford Dealer down here, while it is an insane ride, I too would not feel comfortable in it. A nice sporty truck with subtle changes and a nice small block V8 will almost get just as many looks, and as Chris stated, its easy to drive and comfortable, and much safer to boot.

I knew that was coming...

In my area, I would venture a guess that 90% of the GT stang owners are women.

Again, it's all about personal preferences. I prefer driving something that most people would think," That's one slow POS" and then you shock the hell out of them.

Ofcourse, sleeper for the win. I don't think you will see many women driving a 6 speed 5.0 though . 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds for under $31k. Not saying I would buy it, just throwing it out there.

Ain't nothin' gonna impress anyone on the Strip unless it's exceptional. Ferraris and Lamborghinis are common as dirt there. Vipers and Vettes comprise 20% of the traffic. No one cares.

Drive what makes you happy and to hell with the rest of the world!

It's an obvious win for Ford right now, I agree. I mean, they are offering the highest powered vehicle out of the three (Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger), and I am also very impressed with the fact that the rear axle is still solid and not independent like the Camaro and Challenger. My gripe is that when you start to get serious about adding power, the Dodge is still by far the best. At least they can handle 700 HP with out severe modifications to the drive line. You get over 600 in the Camaro and you're looking at needing an all new transmission and half shafts.

You may be (and I hope) right that the new style of the Stang will remove the "chick car" label, but I still cannot wrap my mind around the styling. It just simply does not follow the retro style that they said they would.

IMO, Chrysler has always been on top as far as Power and Styling is concerned, like you said, just wait til that 6.4 Hemi comes out, I just feel they have always lacked in quality and craftsmanship. And I agree with you, I'm not too thrilled about the body style of the 10' Stang, I was more happy with the previous 05-08 body style. And you are dead on when it comes to adding serious power, Dodge is where it is at when it comes to that, And I give you major props for hot rodding a Chally. But I don't think the general public is going to go buy a modern muscle car and then hot rod it, most people are just going to buy them and drive them for what they are. But people like you, me, and the rest of the addicts on this forum will never leave anything stock. And for that reason I can see why you prefer Chrysler over the other 2 in Detroit. And for god sakes man, take back that statement about Tuner's!!!

The 6.4 is already out. Has been for a few years, but it's just now that they are going to offer it in a vehicle from the factory. Up until now, it's been offered as a crate motor with complete wiring harness and everything to make it a pain free fitment. It does seem that Dodge has finally gotten around to improving their transmissions, but it still remains clear as to just how much improving they have done overall.

Anyways, even with the 6.4 being offered in the challenger, I don't feel that it will be enough to sate the pony car war. If anything, the new option will allow for a semi "even" configuration in terms of power.

As for hotrodding the chally, it's not me personally doing it, but I have had a lot of say in it, and I'm honored to have done that much. Not to mention the fact that it has been a great learning experience and contact making opportunity that I have had in a long time.

Oh, I wont take back the tuner comment. You have to give much respect to the boosted inline four bangers. Overlook them once and you'll see nothing but tail lights. Tuners do not equal ricers...

Eh, one hellacious thread jack in progress. LOL

You are actually pretty close. Most of the new mustang owners are in fact.... female.
