Default pistol grip shifter?

I have a 98 ram 1500 4x4 extended cab short bed 318 with a 5 speed manual tranny. I was wondering if anyone has ever put on or seen a truck with a pistol grip shifter?

lol thats just on my tranfer case. but yea it would work. seems more like a novelty though. meant for auto shifters but i left the spring out since i didnt need it. got it at a flea market for $5, looking like something from autozone. i also took the scales off and hit them with rustoleum bedliner paint, they were a light woodgrain color.

Are you talking about the old school pistol grips like on a '70 Roadrunner?

Aren't newer Dodge trannies top loaded? If so, you'd have to modify (as in cut and/ or weld) your old shifter bottom to a pistol grip handle. Or does the OE shifter bolt on to something sticking out of the tranny?
Original pistol grips are an expensive piece aren't they? If you have an original one, I'd sell it and buy a reproduction. You'd still have money left over.

Yes i was talking abut the old school shifters. I dont have one i was just wondering if anyone has ever done it to their truck. Ive never seen it but if it can be done id like to do it bc i love the way they feel in your hand plus they look so cool. As for right now i just have an aftermarket brushed aluminium ball.

HURST T handle FTW! The only shift **** I have used on any 5 speeds I've had.... I'd have it in my truck now if it wasn't auto....

Again...if you can do it without destroying the handle, I'd do it. I know guys that would have in the day paid BIG bucks for an original pistol. That's because the repos were overpriced crap.
My guess is if the woodgrain inserts weren't cracked and the top shift pattern isn't either, it's probably worth 500 bucks. They were about half that back in the late 80's.
Therefore, I'd probably mod whatever comes out of your tranny so you can bolt the stick to it with the original bolt pattern.
Then watch all the "old skool" guys like myself freak...or get really pissed if you hacked it up to install it.
