Head shots are way too iffy. Unless you're close enough to smell its breath, the brain is way too small a target to reliably hit and if you try you're likely to leave an animal to die miserably, far beyond the point where you give up the trail. Don't even think it. In theory it sounds good, but in reality it's cruelty.
They're about equivalent to the ought-six, really. They're good for everything deer-sized and smaller, on elk and moose they're good for black timber hunting but not so good for crossing long valleys.

Ok im back from the hunt
and i killed a moose!!!!
with the .308 at 200 yards i caught him in the neck, and when he turned, i got a bullet through his back leg, and it went and punctured his lung.
the moose weighed 847 lbs. dressed out, 52 in. spread on his rack, 12 points....BIG moose....
but ill post the whole story and pics tonight...got home at midnight last night, so im relaxing right now...
