Default Finally, It's Time For the Moose Hunt! :)

well i worked 12 hours today, and thats the last im going to work for the next 11 days!, tomorrow, i leave for Maine to my parents house, chill with my best friend that ive known since i was 4 (i'm turning 23 in 2 weeks as well haha)...

then Saturday morning, my father and I will be jumping into his truck to head up 7 hours north to where we will be staying for the week....its a camp in the middle of no where...we have to travel 100 miles down a dirt road alone....so no stores or anything within at least 100 miles of us.

then we will meet the guy who owns the camp when we get there...Saturday night is party night...gunna get drunk and ston.d, gunna be a blast.

Sunday we will scout the roads and see which is a good zone to hunt...BTW moose hunting consists of driving around in the truck drinkin beers lookin for a moose, its not sit in the cold and wait.

Monday, let the games begin.

Im using a 308 rifle. My dad has his 30/6, h already said i can take the first shot! We have a bull permit which means the moose has to have a rack taller than his ears. So im hopin to get a nice 1100 pounder lol.

My fiancee and daughter will stay with my mom at her house. gunna miss them ALOT.

but wish me luck, and my dad has a digital camera, so ill be posting pics when i come back in 12 days, and im sure ill have one hell of a story to tell.

I dunno... I'd want a 7mm mag or better for a bull moose unless it was already in the bed of the truck.

Good luck, and don't skimp on the trophy photos!

Why is that?
I would use something of the 7mm too....
Or maybe the trusty old 7.62x54R

I put an ati stock on a M91/30 and it looks sick.
Then again, for moose I might choose the trusty Romanov.......

Do they even make hollow point rifle rounds? I don't think they even bother to do that.

The only rifle I have right now is a 25-06 Browning. Very nice(and expensive) rifle, but it won't be able to put down much.

yes and no.
Most high caliber 'hollowpoints' are polymer filled. they have a polymer tip on the end that helps expansion.

Yeah, I thought it would be something like that, a filling if anything.

Apparently there's an old 30-06 in my parent's garage somewhere. They say I can have it if I find it. Definitely gonna find it...
