Default Had an emergency, Ram got me there..But have questions about a blinky light on dash.

Tonight i had an emergency, so i was cruising at 112 MPH at around 4500 rpm for awhile (o/d off) so i came up on a big hill floored... half way up the hill and holding 4500 rpm at around 112 everything smooth and running great, no problems. Got an engine light blinking so i slowed and let off and after about 3-4 secs it went off then i hauled *** some more doing the same thing but for less time cause i got to my destination And with no lights coming on. Before i got the light i had been at 4500RPM plus for acouple of miles.... I was thinking maybe it was a light that comes on under long periods of high RPM high speed?? What was it? No noises, no problems everything is as it should be. Oil Pressure, TEMP, Voltage, everything was fine at the time of the light and after. Dont know what went on? Any information will be appreciated!!

That was the indicator that says you're going way too fast in a pickup truck.

Blinking CE light indicates an issue with the catalytic converter. There's no cat sensor, but when the cat starts to clog, it causes issues with back pressure which then affects spark (ignition system). Since it's not occurring at lower speeds, this may be an early warning that your cat is going out.

I suggest getting the cat pressure tested. Also, if the cat is going out, that means there are issues with the emissions system. The cat should never have to be replaced. Also, the O2 sensors should be replaced approx 50-60K miles regardless of throwing a code or not.

Thanks for the help and reply man, It did not do this again so im not sure what to think, maybe it is the cat but i have plenty of power and also no pinging or misfires. Maybe i should check the codes to see if anything is there?

Uhmmmmm..... I think the CEL blinking is the PCM telling you that it is detecting cylinder misfires......

Pretty much, which could be a bad CKP, plug wire issue, or problem with the cat/emission. If there's no illuminated CEL, then trying to pull codes (IMO) is a fruitless endeavor.

Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy and say that there's no reason to be going 112 mph. Emergency or not, we have speed limits for a reason, to protect you and other people on the road. Do you see ambulances going 112 mph to the hospital?

Anyway this is directly from the owners manual:
"If the MIL (malfunction indicator light) is flashing, severe catalytic converter damage and power loss will soon occur. Immediate service is required."

I always understood that once these trucks were to hit 88mph, we'd see some serious shiat.

Then, you bring up the blinking CE.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Oh it was a perfectly good reason believe me...There are reasons cars and trucks go faster than the speed limits! Otherwise cars and trucks would only do 80-75 MPH.. Dont be retarded i didnt ask you to give me advice on how fast i should go when there's something wrong. I asked what it could be, I thank you guys that helped me out without trying to cause issue. But to the other A holes....No thanks. If you dont have anything to do other than give me a hard time then you dont have a life.

I checked the codes, no codes..Ive been driving it and ive had no issues so far, we'll see tho. Something will appear im sure and ill know what went wrong and what i need to replace. Thanks for the help
