Default Interesting news from Horsepower TV

ok well they built up a methenol engine......

Well they said by changing the 7 and 4 spark wires, they gained 8 HP???

I know we run on gas, and things may be different, but does anyone think its possible to do a wire change on our trucks to maybe get a bit more bark?

i just thought this was pretty interesting.

What "change" did they make? Did they put new wires on those spots? I seriously doubt that they switched the firing order there.... that would be just silly, as it would make the engine run like crap.

Did they install them wrong initially??

It also requires a 7-4 swap camshaft.

And swap the 7 and 4 injector connectors? This isn't a batch fire system. You can't alter the firing order without doing some SERIOUS hoop jumping.

I suspect that they just had two bad plug wires, and replaced them.

possibly, i was typing on here when i heard it. I may have missed some important info, but if my memory serves me correct, they mentioned nothing about injectors being swapped, or what not.

They did put in a new cam, but i dont remember them talking about the 4/7 alteration.

Um, ok...... they put in a cam that swaps the firing order on 4 and 7, reprogram the PCM to account for it, and get 8 whole horsepower????? Erm, you will have to pardon me, but, spending a couple hundred bucks on a cam, and a few hundred more for a custom tune, to get 8 horsepower seems hardly worthwhile to me....... They could have spent under 300 bucks on some better rocker arms and gotten more than 8 horsepower......
