i have a 98 dodge ram 1500.2wd long bed reg cab.its only a v6 but its a 5 speed.im sick of the gutless 3.9 that i have in it now.how hard would it be to swap it with a carbed v8?any advice would be great!!
Putting the motor in isn't to difficult. Its wiring and fuel supply that are the main issues. It would probably be easier to install a fuel injected magnum V8 from another dodge.
ok.thats probly what i figured.my main concern that ive been trying to figure out is if a v8 would bolt up to the 5 speed tranny that i have,.id like to have to not get a ew one.
okay so new update.i blew the v6 in my ram.now time for the v8.want to keep the same tranny.thinking about swaping it out with a 318 from a 94 ram.do i need to change out fuel supply fuel pump etc..also do i need to swap wire harness from my v6 or can i keep it and just use to computer from the other ra.any advice would be extremely helpfull.planing on starting the build this week
Need harness, and computer from donor truck. Reason being, you are going to have a couple extra fuel injectors on there, that you need the wiring harness to hook up to, and the computer needs to be aware that they are there.
A 94 PCM isn't going to work in a 98. You'll need the PCM for a 98 and wire harness(as mentioned) for 98 though. Which btw only uses one temp. sensor (the one under the alternator. So you want a new temp sensor for a 98 also.
