Default Hitting reverse- I'm turning into a kid again..

and why the hell not, right?

A buddy of mine owns and operates an off-road fabrication shop, and today- he has my truck.

I'm sitting here next to the phone waiting for his 'lunchtime update' that he promised.. I can't wait to see this thing!!

He's putting a 5" Suspension lift on it, a Borgesen Premium Steering Shaft, and a PSC Steering Reinforcement System..

In the mean time, I'm driving one of his beaters- which is by itself a pretty floggin' bad **** ride:

Like I said- the suspense is floggin' murdering me.. I can't wait to see my truck when he's done! I'll post a pic or two, and do some reviewing of the upgrades as well..

As you likely know, I have a thirdgen, but hang here because I also have the Magnum.. I don't have coils, I have torsion bars.. AND- I have a level kit on the truck to clear the 35's I run..

There is a lot of chatter about how the two are going to combine (the leveling torsion keys, and the suspension lift)- some are saying that my 5" lift is going to be 7", and some are saying it won't make a diff and I'll still be around 5".. I don't know, because I can see both arguments clearly..

The steering shaft and brace system should make steering those front tires MUCH easier on the OEM components.. I wasn't having an issue, but if I neared full lock I could hear/feel the steering pump stress more than it used to- so I am moving preemptively on it to dodge that obstacle.. We'll see how it works out..

The truck I'm 'borrowing' is a '95 w/ a 5.9.. Pretty much stock under the hood.. Ping central.. It runs strong though and is a testament to proper preventive maintenance and care.. I'm hoping mine will be as strong as his when it reaches his's age.

Torsion bars are adjustable. To a point. You probably will be able to get a 'range' of lift out of them, from stock, to plus a couple inches. (ignoring the new lift.)

Yeah, I prefer keeping them somewhere around stock. I was goofing with the once, and was surprised how much difference a small adjustment made. I prefer to keep them around stock so the shocks are never a guessing game. I've the 2.5" keys, and used the shock shackle extenders when I put the LK on. I've never liked that.

On full lockup- I don't rub, but if I compress the suspension any things under there clash- which is what drove me to properly lift it. That, and I got the kit pretty cheap.

I'm guessing the truck I am borrowing looks like yours?

Too funny..

Here is something else too funny-

I argued with the guy briefly about the Borg Shaft and PSC steering brace, but he said that is what I wanted so we ordered it and it landed.... It won't work with my truck.. It WILL work with a 2002 3/4 ton, or a 1 ton- but not a '02 half ton.. go figure.. SOOO- I don't get the steering upgrades..

He also said the Rough Country 4-5" lift is made from solid and well made parts, but that they are a BIYATCH to install.. I'm really anxious to see it.. But, I won't get it now until tomorrow eve. .

Here is the dudes fab shop, and some of the work he's done.. They're good guys and know their business- except that I thought he knew I had a 1500 and not a 2500.. Whoops- on my part most likely.. huh..
