Default Dodge's engines don't match up?

I was wondering, why is it that dodge can come out with a 6.4 L V8 producing 475 hp and 470 ft pound torque; but the viper engine with 8.3 L Of displacement and 2 more cylinders only outputs 25 more horses? I don't get it. Is the viper engine severely under tuned or what?

Your talking about the new 392 right? I'm guessing it's just because it's a newer engine. They don't even make viper anymore.

That is only peak power and at what RPM? I would bet the Viper V10 has more power under the curve and peaks at a lower RPM all with much older technology.

Because the engine in the Viper is old? This isn't science rocket..

No.... Model release year changed with the big three debacle. It will actually BE 2013 when the 2013 model run appears. Everyone is releasing in the 1st quarter of the year as opposed to the idea of releasing in the 4th quarter of the year prior.

From Allpar.com

"Gilles did add in December 2010 that he was looking to Fiat to help tune the new Viper’s chassis, making it more controllable by ordinary drivers, and that it would arrive in 2012 as a 2013 model; it has been in development and has been approved by Chrysler's board. "

This is EXACTLY correct! And by the way OP, the current Viper is producing 600 horses, not 500 as the previous models.
