I have 20% and personally I would like to have 5% but 20% alone is hard to see out of at nigh in fact I have to roll down my window to back into my drive lol but 5% does look sweet and if you do 5% then do a tint strip on your windsheild to make it all blend or it make look odd.

I am a conservative Republican, but I actually support legalization of marijuana. I just want them to treat it like alcohol, you can't smoke it and drive, smoking it in excess in public is bad (public intoxication), etc. etc.

Back to the topic at hand... I'd obey the laws, maybe push them a tiny bit, but mostly obey them myself.

I cite people for window tint all the time. It's not that we're being dicks, it's a safety thing. I can't see you when I'm walking to the car. Who's to say your not holding a gun or some other weapon when you roll the window down. I don't know who you are. You could be someone who just murdered somebody and think that's what I'm stopping you for but in all honesty I'm stopping you because you ran a red light and your gonna do anything to get away. Legal limit is 35% in NC. Good rule of thumb is that if I stick your license up to the inside of the window and I can't read it clearly it's too dark.

the regulations you posted are actually for cars. a multi-use vehicle (pickup) is allowed unlimited tint on all windows except the front passenger windows, which are limited to 50%. apparently congress has just recently passed a bill, that would allow 35% on the front passenger window. i dont really care if it is enacted because 35% is still too light.

i find it obnoxiously irritating that cops are allowed to shade their cruisers unlimitedely. i know of a few who have illegal tint on their personal rides as well.

anybody know if 5% factory tint on the rear side window sounds right?
Again, there are reason's some police cruisers have that dark of tint. It's a lot easier to catch a drug dealer when they can't see you staring right at them. Trust me, people do some stupid stuff when they don't think they are being watched.

seeing through the window gives a false sense of security. sure you can see him, but whos to say he doesnt have a gun in his lap? who holds a gun to the window long enough for the officer to catch a glimpse and act upon it?

if the offending driver fails to roll down his windows, that should immediately alert the officer of an abnormality, thus the officer should not approach.

if they can see me, i want to see them.

I don't really roll down my windows in the winter here.... at least, not until the cop is someplace that I KNOW he can see exactly what I am doing with my hands. Otherwise, they stay right up on the steering wheel, where they are easily seen. Bullet stop is NOT on my list of things to do.

Believe what you want but window tint that dark is askin for trouble. Traffic stops are one of the most dangerous things we do if not the most. If I can't see you or whoever else is in the car there's gonna be problems. I promise my family every day that they will see me again at the end of my shift and I plan on keeping it that way.
