How big of a winch would it take to pull a 6000lb car up onto a car hauler trailer?

If you are loading cars regularly get a smaller name brand winch. I hear you get what you pay for in winches so name brand if you have to rely on it. Also consider if you will be leaving the winch on the trailer or storing out of the weather (assuming flat bed). Winches are very heavy, my 3000lb winch is fairly easy to move while the 9000lb winch at work is really heavy and a pain to do anything with. The smaller winch is easier to store too. Also smaller cables don't fight you as much and are easier to work with. The major benefit of the larger winch is speed and possible longevity (not so much if you use a ****** block on smaller winch).

Get some friends to help you push it up there.

We are getting a 24ft enclosed trailer later this week, possibly Friday. I have had a cheapo 1 ton harbor freight for some time and am trying to figure out if i can use this until I save up some money to buy a better one.... the only reason i need a winch is in car the dart brakes while at the strip, no off-roading with that little winch... So what do you think? O and I plan on buying a ****** block....

If I were you I'd go with a reputable brand like Warn. My buddy has had 2 off brand 3000 pound winches on his ATV and both of them broke. He's now going to go with Warn.

It will work for now. Get a ****** block, and some straps. Rolling a car into a trailer is MUCH easier than pulling a truck out of a mud hole.
