Yeah, infact some actually will install a "smoke switch" so they can dump more smoke on demand. Some people feel they need more attention, so they get it by being obnoxious, with a "hey look what i can do" modification.

I cannot understand what makes dumping smoke cool? How is wasting fuel and washing down cylinder walls cool at all?

The same way it's cool to drive down Main Street with your bass thumping out some insipid noise that passes for modern music. If you're one who lacks the capacity for independent, rational thought then you're likely the sort who thinks that crap is cool.

Your problem, young friend, is that you're not that sort. It's a darn good problem to have.

Do you drive a big, bad-*** smoke, belching diesel to overcompensate for certain shortcomings?

a little black smoke is normal for a diesel but excessive is a waste of fuel. There is no performance gain from dumping fuel out your pipes, everyone thinks that the more smoke the more power their diesel has .......... lmao ya ok, i did hear banjos in the background of the youtube vid didn't i.

Pulling a heavy load there should be some smoke expected, and a ticket for that is stupid. If your trying to prove a point go ahead and take it to court, you'll probably win, but in the end the state will get there $$$ from you in one way or the other. The smoke is just what a diesel does, but "dumping" smoke is wasting fuel unless your making 600+ hp.
