Where do you smell the fuel? Under the hood? Out the exhaust? Are you getting black smoke? Gas mileage take a serious dive??

no black smoke at the tailpipe, not a noticeable differance in gas mileage, and the fuel smell is at the exhaust. When I bought the truck used it had no muffler, the catylatic converter had been cut open and Im guessing gutted out and welded back shut with a baffle it the exhaust tip to create back pressure if that helps any.

if you are getting unburned fuel out the exhaust..... I would have a look at O2 sensors, and the engine coolant temp sensor. Those have the most control over mixture.
