Holy crap, 20 Grand????? OUCH!

More room? Yeah, I heard that one..... that's why I went from a four door blazer, to my extended cab Ram...... seats six, relatively comfortably. Four was comfy in the blazer, five was pushin' it.

Maybe look for an extended cab second gen with der diesel?

Watch out, that dash might cut you...

My advice, if you're looking for a mid-size SUV in that price range, look no further:

That is an OVERLAND model. The best you can get, the Denali of the jeep world. I had the EXACT same one same, year setup and options. I traded it in to a GMC dealership for a YUKON because the jeep was cramped with 2 child car seats in the back.

My trade in value for my 2007 (traded it in 2009) with 36K miles was $20,500. And the dealership sold it within 30 days for not much more. You should be able to get that overland for about 17,500 and it would not be a bad deal. Bad thing is that they would go faster in your area than in arkansas where I traded in mine.

I loved that vehicle. Great power, GREAT GAS MILEAGE ON THE HWY. You will get 22+ MPG on the HWY doing 70MPH with a spectre air filter. The multiple displacement on the hemis is much better than GMC.

Pluses:
1. Gas mileage
2. Power, Driveability
3. Snow driving (all wheel drive in the overlands, we never used the 4x4)

Minuses:
1. Not much room if you have more than one child.
2. AC seemed to not work right and there was a smell from the vents
3. Tires wore badly.

The ONLY reason we traded it in was because my wife wanted something bigger. So, if you need more room, just get a yukon (NOT a tahoe) of the same year for less money.

In 2007, I paid 38K for My overland. Special military overseas deal.

There are some good mods you can do to that vehicle, but they are mainly tuning and exhaust. I always thought a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a loud exhaust was just weird.

You will like the performance with just a cloth filter.

I owned one of them, and i would have kept it if my ram didn't have only 48K on it at the time.

OH, they got the trailer package. The towing setting is AWESOME for those vehicles. It is not simply "out of overdrive." It uses the gears to help braking. Like when driving a manual transmission.

ANOTHER DRAWBACK:
The "manual shifting" did not work as well as I thought it should. It is not dialed in for drag racing so you might be a little disapointed there.

I would recommend it. But talk him down to about 17.5K.

Check what the tade in value for that vehicle is. in 2009, they told me that 17.5 was the highest they would give me. If they are making 1K-1.5 on a trade in, they will usually bite on it.

Come in armed with the trade in value and ask when it was traded in.

WAIT. THAT IS NOT AN OVERLAND!!!

It just has the "trail rated" badge. 17.5K is too much.

I would feel fine with getting it for 15-16K. But they are giving the overland price.

Does it have Quad trac? That is full time AWD with an option to put it into 4x4? if it has quad trac, then it is pretty much an overland. The only difference would be the interior vavona burl wood trim and overland stitching.

Here is the blue book on a NON QUAD TRACK Grand cherokee with that mileage and options:
$16,900 for EXCELLENT CONDITION, which it appears to be in.
http://www.kbb.com/jeep/grand-cherok...tion=excellent
So, 20K is a fair starting price. if it has quad trac (4x4 II) then it will be $17,025 for trade in.

I think that getting it around 17.5K would be a good get. Might be tough, but dealerships want to sell the cars FAST so they pay less interest every month on the cars they "own." $500 over trade in is the lowest they will usually go, but if you offer 1000-1500 over the trade in value, then they will bite.

Hope i helped, and sorry for the multiple long posts. I owned one of these!

it looks like a fun jeep, now that i looked at it i see alot of them around town lol. i see alot of complaints of not alot of power of the line being a hemi ? do you know the axle ratio and i think the jeep is still a open rear end like my truck :/ . i think its 4wd not awd i gotta look at it agian.

things i liked is that its chromed out with body panels and the rims and the owner before has a loud exaust coming out the back. worried it a owned by a younger person who has it as a lease . i love the color too has a deep silver with sparles in it . has alot of scratches on bumper as well with rear bumper and a chrome molding on passenger side was missing.

the chrome peice he said has been ordered and he said the bumpers can be repaired.

there was a white ones that was a 08 with 40k miles for 25 k. and doesnt look abused. im interested in some kinda hemi 09 and up as the hemi was upgraded in evreything with alot more power

i really want a 2009 or 2010 ram with a hemi with 3.91 gearing but i dunno if i can get one for under 25 k because thats about my limit for now . i dont have any credit , whatever i get will have to be a co-sign with me

Looks like if you're going HEMI in a Ram the best you'll do is about 28,000. Honestly brand new ones are around the 30k mark with much lower interest rates than used. I would probably check it out. You'll take a big hit in depreciation the first year but if you plan on keeping it long term, it'll work out in the end.

Oops, make that 35k.
