Not to mention just getting a description of the problem. I would much rather be able to drive it, and see what is going on, but, for some obscure reason, I just don't think that's real practical here.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM:

driving down the road going about 35 or 40 and spedometer needle drops to zero..car surges... needle comes back up.... giving it gas the rpms go up to around 4000 rpms and the jeep doesnt go any faster, still going the same speed but engine is revving.. is that a clear enough description?

The speedometer dropping to zero is what I would address first. If the PCM doesn't think the truck is moving, it is going to drop to first gear..... and RPM will go up.
