I had the same problem, except mine went when I was going down Taum Sauk Mountain (aka highest point in Missouri). Wasn't the funnest experience I've ever had in my Ram. It was the same Brake line you blew as well. That was the first and only thing I've had to replace on my truck so far.

I would recommend that all 2nd Gen Ram owners grab a flashlight and crawl under their truck to take a look between the gas tank and the driver's side frame rail to check their brake line for rust.

Of all the problems our Rams are known to have, this one is definitely towards the top of the dangerous list.

Mopar Mike, it's good you made it to the bottom of the mountain in one piece! I bet that was a white knuckle ride.

Funny , I read this in the morning before heading out to play paintball, on the way home the brake pedal felt soft.......sure enough , brake line rotted out and busted just behind the fuel tank .

It depends where you live. I have nothing to fear here, in the Southwest.

Yessir......mines rusty. Anybody know what the diameter of the line is? Seems easy enough to replace...if you drop the gas tank.

should be 3/16 brake lines. i have never dropped a gas tank to replace a line. i would just slide it up the frame beside the old line.

I'm guessing that I need a flaring tool and a bender too?

You would be correct. Unless you buy a line from the dealer(prebent and ready to install).

no need for a bender, 3/16 line is easily bent by hand, if your not crazy with it.
