Can anyone elaborate on this swap? How difficult is it?

Up to 98 neutral safety switch. 3 wire. Screw in.

99 neutral saefty switch. 3 wire. Screw in.

00-up neutral safety switch. 5 wire. Push in.

So to answer your question correctly they are not the same in any sense and to call someone a moron who has the correct info says alot.

Your right. But, That is NOT the reason the tranny won't work. Simple as that. The tranny will work by replacing the neutral safety switch obviously. That's why I said what I said. (the moron statement).

you may be right, but zman and i both have 98 transmission in both my 2001, and his 2000. i dont have overdrive due to the o/d solenoid and all the other stuff, but i never had to replace the neutral safety switch and my truck starts, runs, and drives just fine.

i don't see what the big deal is? all the neutral safety switch does is turn your backup lights when you are in reverse and prevent you from starting your vehicle while in gear.

I had a guy buy my trans for his 03 with the 5.9. And now his mechanic is telling him it won't work for his truck... Huh? Why not?

Have to change some of the electronics in the trans. That's the only difference.

thats what i thought. the tcc/overdrive solenoids, governor pressure sensor and solenoid, and neutral safety switch... and i told him this when he bought it.

now he's saying his mechanic told him it wont work because the electrical connections are different...hmmmm wonder if he was listening when i originally told him at least three times. I dont have to take it back... especially not for this trivial reason.

His mechanic is correct. As it sits, no, it won't work. Have to change the electronics, and down the road you go. Maybe ask the guy if he has had his hearing checked lately..... Dipstick.

man, I hate sticky situations like this...

you may want to print out a copy of the schematics of both, and hand them to him.. highlighted with the electronics configuration differences.. and say- swap these..

some people need barney instructions..

on another note: I wish I could get the $$ together, if I could- I'd buy that 408 from you in a heartbeat..
