I do.
My calculations I have done 10 times in a row, and the lack of pinging I am hearing.
Since I ping less, I have to use less throttle input, meaning less fuel dump by the PCM, meaning higher gas mileage.

All a turbo does is make an engine think it's bigger than it really is. (by increasing volumetric efficiency. IE, More air/fuel in, more power out.) Given two engines of the exact same displacement, one turboed, the turbo motor will produce WAY more power, (given the same internals on the engines.) than the naturally aspirated motor. An engine specifically built for forced induction, will be more efficient that the same displacement engine, putting out the same power numbers, that is normally aspirated.

It's all in how you build it. There is no single other mod than forced induction that will yield the biggest gains. Of course, they are rather expensive too.... but, ya get what ya pay for.

But, the big question becomes, does your mileage increase enough to offset the added cost of premium fuel? My guess would be: "No".

No.
But there IS an increase. 2 mpg on average.

That, and:

"I have my doubts that an engine that runs well on regular will get better mileage on premium .."

I think the new question is why is your engine pinging so much regular gas?

As asked a couple of times on page 1 of this thread: How's your plenum?

And I stand by my contention that an engine that runs well on regular will not get better mileage on premium.

Good Lord.
My engine HATES regular right now.
Therefore, my engine runs better on premium, also increasing the mileage.

And yes, my plenum is blown, hence the premium. I am going to do that this winter. I want to find another manifold to modify first. Although I may just buy the plate and stuff and have the shop just do that.

OK, I wasn't aware that we'd established that your plenum was blown. I just didn't want anyone to think that they'd get better mileage by switching to premium if their engines were running fine on regular.

I am glad we have made this known with each other.

Come on, man. The "we" is everyone who ever reads this thread. One thing that's "special" is not wasting money on premium gas if it does nothing for you. I understand that that is not the case with your engine in its present state.
