I totalled a late 90s mustang with my ram's bumper. He had an expired insurance card but the cop let him call his parents to bring him the updated one. I was a stop sign and he clipped my front end. my fault because the cop decided I had "entered the intersection" and didnt care that the speed limit was 20 and the kid was probably going close to 50 smashed the headlight to the taillight on his car. 166 dollar ticket + my 500 deductible. had an alignment a new bumper realigned the hood and a new headlight. the Biggest BS thing of it all was the first he said after " are you ok" was " I hope they total this POS, the AC is broken, it has a fuel leak, nd its a black car in Florida". Judge dint care about that either still got stuck with the ticket + 100 bucks in court fees.
my total repair bil was just over 1500 for parts and close to 1000 for labor. Good luck, hope they dont total it! especially since you were able to drive away.

Damn that really does suck.....When my truck was wrecked by someone else I was able to get a settlement from the other person's insurance company, it cleared them from any medical and further payment to fix my vehicle, they gave me their body shops estimate to fix, and it kept from totaling my truck and having a salvaged title it went down as a settlement to my father(the name on the title) and not on the truck either.
With the settlement I was able to fix my truck with new parts and have the whole thing painted
This is in florida and might be something to look into if you can do this in georgia if they want to total the truck

Glad ya'll are ok. As others have said if they total and it has a salvage title just buy it back and fix it yourself and you should be able to pocket some of the $. My mustang had a small fire under hood and I got it put out pretty quick but my insurance company totaled it and I got a certificate of destruction. I bought it back from them for $450 and parted it out so I almost got back what I had into it. It still sucks because I could have fixed it for a few hundred.

On the topic of coast's, I had a customer (I work for wally world) ask about cabbage, asked if the organic wrapped cabbage he was holding was regular cabbage, I said no it's organic. He replied "Oh, well I don't need that, too expensive. It's for those "left" coaster's.
