That's what I'm afraid of. These trucks don't seem to hold a lot of resale value, it won't be hard for the cost of repair to exceed the value of the truck. Just about the whole front end will have to be replaced or repaired.

On the plus side, the driver front headlight and turn signal still work!?

The door mount got pushed out so the door drops a little when you open it. The hood doesn't line up anymore, and the whole front driver side is beyond repair, then the column support thingy for the headlight assembly is bent from the bumper.

The rear of the chevy in between the bed and cab is what hit me. I was the only one who got to drive away in their vehicle. And when it hit, it hit HARD.

My fender/bumper/headlight was torn up like that a few months ago, when i was going straight, and a girl that had her license for 4 days thought that if you had a solid green light and were turning left, she had the right of way instead of the huge ram coming straight for her. Needless to say, i totaled her 2008 civic.

She had allstate as well, but since she was at fault, they had full liabilitiy and paid it all. they came out and estimated my truck the next week, was about 3,000, then they wrote me a check, and i took it to the shop of my choice. It ended up being more, so the shop called allstate, and they signed them a check for the extra cost. My whole truck was fixed in 3 weeks. It took about 4 days in the shop, but mine was not as bad as your front end is.

That's not too bad of a fix. It's great that these front ends pretty much just bolt together. As long as the frame rails are straight, you are golden. It definitely looks like they will total it, but with some junkyard shopping, you can fix that thing up cheap.

Only bad thing about that is when they total it and you buy it back you have a salvage title abd have to fix it ajd have it inspected to get a rebuilt title before you can drive it again. And your resale value is shot because of it

Sometimes you can talk the insurance company out of salvaging it... but usually not if there is another insurance company involved.

I had identical damage to my core support when i bought it. I paid somethin like $50 for a JY new one (matching red) and bolted it in in an hour maybe. the two tone fender is gonna be tough, but bring the body shop a straight one from a JY and let them do their thing. Go out and find the highest quote you can, then do as much of the work yourself as possible, bring the bodyshop of your choice the replacement parts, let them finish what you started, and pocket the change!

I have bought vehicles with salvage titles before..... I got an 84 Dodge Conquest TSI back in 89, for 2 grand........ it only had 45000 miles on it. I don't have a clue why it was a salvage title, as there was NO evidence of any accidents..... the car was straight, ran good, drove nice, and was WAY too much fun....... As it was a salvage title.... I drove it till the wheels fell off, bolted them back on, and drove it some more. Retired it at 225,000 miles, when the trans grenaded. (and that was spectacular.)

My 3000GT with 13k miles on it has a rebuilt title from being a theft recovery. It's silly what they will salvage things for. If you really want to get pissed, check out the Copart auction site and look for vehicles in Florida. They give "certificate of destruction" brands on cars that would be an easy fix.... and you can't do anything about it .

my mom got hit in her honda and the insurance company let her keep it since it was still drive able and the insurance company gave her a check that would cover the repairs at the cheapest shop. they also paid for the physical therapy.
