He could part it out for more than the 1400.... we don't know if it is currently driveable or not.... I would at least call on it/chat with the owner, and see just how bad the rear is. If it's completely blown, offer a thousand cash. (and have the money in your hand when you offer it, IN PERSON.)

While that may be true, even if he was to part it out, it takes a while to do so. I tried to part out some very popular parts and one thing I found out is regardless if some one gives you there word that "they'll buy it as soon as they get there check", they almost always fake and leave you pissing in the wind.
i've seen the title he does say rebuilt or etc on it... i've got the vin number and plate number i was gonna call the DOL and make sure there isn't any liens on it like form the state for child surport or etc..
the guy who owns it is in his 70s so i'm pretty sure i'm not gonna be getting ripped off but i am gonna check in with the dol and maybe do a car faxs on it too before i buy it..
if everything checks out i'm gonna offer him 1000 dollars cash and see what happens
So you're gonna take advantage of a Grandpa?!?!?!? jk dude.
Serious note though, at least consider a fair offer after condition is assessed. k?
